Committees

AwardsCommittee members review nominations and select the winners of the five prestigious awards that are awarded by APHA *
BylawsThe Committee reviews the APHA Bylaws to ensure they are up-to-date and craft language for Bylaws modifications.
Committee on AffiliatesRepresents the interest of 53 state/local affiliate associations. The Committee on Affiliates studies recommends and coordinates ways in which both APHA and Affiliates can strengthen their ties with one another. *
Equal Health OpportunityMembers are individual representative of groups often discriminated against in society and its health system. Concentration efforts are placed on issues impacting racial/ethnic/cultural minorities and addresses affirmative action issues in the public health community.
International Human RightsProvides guidance to the APHA Executive Board and membership regarding human rights issues of public health concern around the world.
Inter-Sectional CouncilRepresents the interests common to the APHA sections, SPIG's and facilitates relations between and among them and with other groups within APHA. *
Joint PolicyThe Committee is responsible for overseeing the association's annual policy, development, archiving and review process.
It's task is to review and assess all proposed and late-breaking policies and report its final recommendations for adoption to the Governing Council at the Annual Meetings
MembershipThe membership committee serves to assist and advise the Membership department on member retention, recruitment efforts
NominationsResponsible for the nominations of Association Officers (President- Elect, Executive Board etc.,)
The Nation's HealthThe committee responds to specific changes generated through the editorial staff on issues that may include focus, editorial content, circulation, design, frequency or web presence. The duties reflect the major organizational, program elements of the organization.
Women's RightsThe primary focus of this committee is on gender inequities in health care and health policy, but also focuses and places emphasis in other areas (e.g. economic and pays inequity, the glass ceiling, etc.)
Affiliate Representative Governing Councilor (ARGC)Represents an affiliate as an informed voice on the APHA Governing Council, and serves as a liaison in communicating and disseminating information between an affiliate's governing body and APHA. The ARGC also coordinates regional ARGC activities with respect to Committee on Affiliates recommendations and actions.
